As an artist for 35+ years, I've always been interested in drawing people and pets.
I live in St. Catharines, Ontario, Canada, also known as The Garden City.
I completed the Famous Artists' Course by correspondence in the mid-60's, when Norman Rockwell was on the faculty. I'm still a big fan of NR.

There are some great ideas there, so check it out.
The portrait of the young lady below is our daughter when she graduated from
high school. Here hair style has changed somewhat since then, but it's still a
great likeness of her.
The portrait above is showing two brothers, commissioned by our minister,
as a gift to his wife for Mother's Day '08. Due to technical limitations, the scroll below didn't show up, but it read "Psalms 127:3" , which says that children are a gift from God.
This ties in beautifully with the image of the brothers. Our minister's wife loved
the finished portrait. What a pleasant surprise!
If you wish, I'll try to incorporate a Scripture verse in your portrait also.
Are you ready?
Below is a picture of my mother, Violet, who passed away 58 years ago.
Her smile could light up a room, but unfortunately, she died of lung cancer from
smoking. But her memory still lives on.
I worked from a B & W photo, but when I added color, she seemed to come to life
again.
While working at a local hospital, I received many requests to draw the staff's children and pets over the years. The most common comment was, "That's Beautiful!"
After retiring from the hospital, the Internet became available and voila!
Good news! Everyone who has a portrait done by me will receive a FREE
Gift. Just another incentive to get your portrait done soon.
The picture below is called "Lifeguard in Training".
It was done on masonite board with several coats of white paint, watercolour, and coloured pencil.
The background splash effect is meant to simulate water, so that fits in perfectly with the subject.
The picture below is entitled "Think Green". With all of the concern of global warming and climate change, I wanted to convey that idea through art.
" Who is the woman?", you're probably asking.
Is she Mother Nature? Nope, I just call her Miss Green, for no particular reason.
This was also done using the same techniques and materials as for the picture above.
To the right is a picture I named "Bluejays Fan". Too cute for words!
Here is a picture , below left, of a good friend, "Chuck".
I'll always have pleasant memories of him.
I call the picture below "Crusty the Cowboy" because he
just looks so "crusty" and weathered. Wouldn't you agree?
